“Essence of nature” is modern-day cubism mixed with folk culture to depict Bangla’s nature, In 2008 Bangladeshi painter “Samarjit Roy Chowdhury” painted this as his pursuit to mirror the real beauty of Bangladesh. He used colors like blue and white to replicate the beauty of the sky. Green and yellow represent our riverine life. Being inspired by the bright colors of birds, huge varieties of trees, and ever-changing sky he changes the tangible reality into the kaleidoscopic image of nature. Derived from the past, nostalgia, and a yearning to preserve that he uses folk motifs, traditional elements, and decorative patterns to create a story trapped in dramatic composition. This painting is nothing like a picture taken with an expensive camera, rather it captures our feelings when we are amidst nature.

Essence of Nature
Night Sky
“Night sky” is a 1999 oil on canvas painting by artist Samarjit Roy Chowdhury. On a night sky, one color dilutes into another with a smooth transition and creates a captivating pattern. Billions of stars gaze upon us, shining so bright. The loneliness of night makes the sky more my mystic than enchanting. Samarjit Roy Chowdhury translates that into this painting. With his bold choice of color, he captures the night atmosphere and its essence perfectly. He shows us the mystery night sky holds, tells us of a story hidden in the folds of night. His irregular pattern and the use of folk culture takes us inside of his mind and shows us the sky through his eyes
Artist Art Style
Samarjit Roy Chowdhury is one of the pioneers of contemporary art in Bangladesh. He portrayed the eternal Bangla in his painting through ever-changing color, form, mood, and tones. He carried the spirit of his contemporaries but differed in style. The intuitive brush strokes and use of colors made him stand out against all. He used his own unique vision to capture the everyday elements of his country.
